11 - Our Aesthetic Categories

What is Aesthetic for me? Well based on the information that I know, Aesthetic deals with the nature of Beauty, Art and Taste, with the creation and appreciation of Beauty. It is also known as a branch of Philosophy. I myself as a person loves Aesthetic. It relates to my personality because I am a Nature and an Art lover. I have so much admiration and appreciation when it comes to the nature of Art and Beauty.


I have read an article entitled Our Aesthetic Categories. It was authorized by Sianne Ngai. There are actually three significant things about this topic. The Cute, The Interesting and The Zany. These three actually saturate post modern culture. They dominate it's art and commodities. Also our discourse about the ambivalent feelings these objects often inspire. Basically, in this radiant study, Sianne Ngai herself, offers a theory of the Aesthetic categories that most people use to process the hyper com-modified, mass-mediated and performance driven world of late capitalism. Also treating them with the same seriousness philosophers have reserved for the analysis of the beautiful and the sublime.


According to Ngai, she explored how each of these three aesthetic categories expresses it's conflicting feelings that connect to the ways in which consume, exchange and postmodern subject work. This author said that the Zany is actually bound up with production and engages our playfulness and our sense of desperation. The next one is the Interesting. The Interesting is tied to the circulation of discourse and inspires interest  but eventually also boredom. Lastly is the Cute. The Cute's involvement with the consumption brings out feelings of tenderness and aggression simultaneously.


Ngai actually shows how these everyday aesthetic categories also provide traction to the classic problems in Aesthetic theory. The Cute, Zany and Interesting are apparently not post-modernity's only meaningful Aesthetic categories, Sianne Ngai argues, but the one thing that is best suited for grasping the radical transformation of Aesthetic experience and discourse under it's conditions.


To be honest, this article kind of gave me complications in understanding it. Though there are some points that I was able to achieve in knowing what the topic is all about. I agree with some of the information that I read with this article. It shows that this  are the three main parts found under the Aesthetic Categories and basically, it is somewhat also important to our lives. With these three, you are able to compare them and you can know what are their purposes as being one of the Aesthetic category.

"The Zany, Cute and Interesting saturate post modern culture"

With this three words, I feel like it sounds so interesting to know what is the meaning of this three significant words in the book. This three important words have their own specific definition and purpose. With this quote, I believe that it is true because the culture nowadays are mostly influenced by things that are new to the eyes of the people. Usually modern, and the Zany, Cute and Interesting are part of what makes the culture modern.

For me, this article was very interesting and knowledgeable to read. I was able adapt new information about the Aesthetic Categories. It was somehow related and connected to my topic. Other than that, I was able to somehow understand the information given by the book. Now I know what are the purposes of these three significant words.

10 - The Aesthetics of Cute

Well for me, based on my observation and research, people nowadays are having opinions about the Aesthetics of Cute. There are some authors of an article saying that not all cute things are adorable in the eyes of the people. For some people, the cute aesthetic thing that people make nowadays are somewhat horrifying and unappreciated because of how it looks. Now that it gave me so much curiosity, I made it a point that I had to research about this interesting topic.

I came to research an interesting article entitled The Aesthetics of Cute. It was made and authored by The Archives. According to this person, Cute is a thing that we accept as universal. There are specific phrases that people always say that most of us can all understand. These are the "That's Cute", "Make it Cute", and 'I want Cute." But for this person, your opinions with cute doesn't really have the same point of view with his or her opinion with cute. This person thought about it for quit some time already.One thing that he or she explained was that every time the Disney comes up, it would bring out the inner axe-murder in him or her. 

This person had to watch a Disney movie entitled Bambi. It was the first time that the author had watched this. He or she had watched just half of the movie. What happened after an hour was that he or she ran to the bathroom and threw up. This person wasn't able to take it. But this author had discovered something very interesting. There was this animated short called the " Old Mill." It was included also in the DVD. According to this author, the clip seemed nice. The animals there don't speak at all. They just behave and looked like normal animals. They are nonthreatening but proportionately cute animals. While on the other hand, The animals in the Bambi movie are sickeningly saccharine because of their huge eyes and long eyelashes. Also, they speak in juvenile voices and they do the shy glance thing like how Lady Diana does it. They actually behave like human beings but in a creepy contortionist kind of way.

According to the author, the movie Bambi and the movie The Old Mill were made within just a year. Knowingly, the author said that someone told him or her that The Old Mill was actually kind of a test for the animation and scenery of the movie Bambi. It left a wonder to this person that at what point did the animal characters become so hideously distorted with both the appearance and personality.

I had to say that this author really had so many comments to say about this movie Bambi. Obviously, he or she really didn't appreciate the movie. Well for me, there are some things that I disagree with this person's opinion. I myself enjoyed watching the movie Bambi. It was so fun and overwhelming to watch and plus, it was part of my childhood. I really liked how the animals were made in that movie. For me they were really adorable, not distorted like animal. But everyone has their own opinions. Every each of one of them has their own likes and dislikes.

"Is your Cute really my Cute?"

I actually agree on this important quote because I believe that not all human beings are attracted to the same cute thing. They all have their own specific admiration on cute things. Like for example you see an aesthetic cute thing but for the others it's hideous or ugly. They think that the cute appearance of it was distorted. 

For me, it's really interesting to know things about the opinions of other people. I get to learn things based on their insights about the topic. I can somehow compare some of the information's that they are giving. But what's great is that their are some authors who are against to this topic. I can now make some Pro's and Con's about this interesting topic.

9 - The Power Of Cute

Is there really a proof that looking at cute pictures of baby animals can help improve your concentration levels? Well basically I agree on this question statement because I myself have encountered this situation already. There are times that I just spend my time looking at cute baby animals in the internet. What's good is that it has a great effect on me. I tend to get inspired from it and it helps me concentrate or get some focus on the important work that I am doing. Another thing is that it gives me so much calmness, happiness and excitement all the time.


I was able to research an article entitled "The Power of Cute: How looking at pictures of Baby Animals can help improve your concentration levels. It was authored by the Daily Mail Reporter. According to this person, There is now a new research revealing that looking at cute images of baby animals doesn't just make you feel fuzzy and warm inside, but it can also improve your work performance and help you concentrate. Actually this person said that this study comes from the researchers in Hiroshima University. Kawaii is the Japanese word for cute. The article was actually supposed to be called the Power of Kawaii.


Well for me, that's good news because at least now there are things
being revealed about this article. There is really a possibility that people would improve their concentration and work performances. You can work or finish your work right away. At least you can just look at cute baby animals whenever you want to because it's free.

"Kawaii or Cute things not only make us happier, but also improve our behavior."

I believe on this agreeable statement because it's true that it gives you so much happiness and excitement whenever you look at cute or kawaii pictures of baby animals. With behavior, it could really change you. Most girls tend to be cute, to be sweet, to be appreciative, to be caring, and to be kind because of  how they admire at the baby animal pictures. It somehow changes their behavior but in a positive way.

Now that there is a possible proof that looking at baby animals pictures can really improve your concentration, people should try doing this all the time so that it would be easier for them to lessen their stress and problems at work Plus, happiness and improvement in behavior is the advantage for doing this. It's possible that they won't be rude with other people.

8 - Cuteness in Craft

What comes first on your mind when you hear the word, 'cute'? I believe there's always this idea of youthfulness and relation to a child when we talk about cuteness. It could also be thought of as something small, petite, or tiny, if we mean size. There are many ways for cuteness to be used. Just like with our actions; with the way we talk, the way we dress up, the things we use, our preferences, name it. How about using it in art? Promotions and products? I believe that cuteness, as general as it sounds, can be encountered everywhere. Let’s go further into what cuteness can take us as this article that I found states and make us wonder, “Is Cuteness Bad For Craft?”

“Don’t Put A Bird On It: Saving ‘Craft fromCuteness’, A New Yorker article written by Alexandra Lange. Not that cuteness is a bad thing, but as author Chappell Ellison states in the article, quoting Lange, “This is culture, it is not a hobby, and it deserves serious analysis, criticism and thought.” At some point there you would agree that craft is not just a hobby, there are considerations since we are talking about art and design. Although craft could be an interest or a hobby to a person, it’s still not as simple as changing your wardrobe or whatever style you have. Ellison’s point is that “craft is backing itself into a corner of cuteness.” I realized that this is agreeable, seeing craft materials in stores. You could almost put them in a category of cute objects, instead of art and design materials section.

Cuteness is not a bad thing. It’s just that, anything that is too much is not good. As an artist, I am affected by this since there is now a stereotype in craft. We just have to consider the fact that cuteness is not always everybody’s preference. We do know that this is trendy, it has been used widely on TV and in poster ads, but we don’t limit ourselves there. Just like what Ellison said, “Craft can be cute, but it can mean so much more.”

2 - Shoes Combined with Cuteness

I myself love cute shoes. I easily get attracted to cute footwear's especially if I do window shopping. So far, based on my observations, a lot of people are buying many shoes. Some of them tend to collect as many shoes as they want. Eventually, this kind of attitude happens to most women.

I was able to research this certain article about Types of Cute Shoes. It was authored by Jennifer Groepl. According to her, shoes' function a lot more now, over time. Basically, in some ways, cute shoes can possibly change you. They can reflect with your fashion sense, personality, and lifestyle.

I can say that this article makes sense because many people now can be known for the things that they wear whenever they are circled with other people. An example are the pair of cute shoes.  Sometimes with just you wearing a pair of cute shoes, you would be described as the type of person who is interested in cute stuff. It is also possible that people would think that you are a collector of cute shoes.

  

"Today's Plethora of choices represent a woman's freedom to decide for herself exactly what constitutes a Cute pair of Shoes." 

                                                                                      

I actually agree on this statement because women nowadays are open with whatever cute shoes they wear. Even the weirdest yet creative shoes being displayed now in the shoe salon's are being worn by many female teenagers and adults. For them, they have their own likes and dislikes when it comes to cute footwear's. There are times that they would disagree on the certain shoe but on the other hand, it would still depend on the person wearing it because you don't know if the cute shoes fits with the physical appearance of the person.

Having cute footwear's has two things. Advantage and Disadvantage. With advantage, you can be complimented by other people that you have great taste in fashion, plus, it would show attraction towards other people. They might even envy you for having those kind of cute footwear's. While on the other hand, the disadvantage of having cute shoes are this. Some aren't aware of their savings when they just buy and buy cute shoes. They tend to have more for collecting  but that already depends on the person if he or she can't manage their on money. So that's the realization I learned from this nice topic.

1 - Adoration With Hairstyles

I remember when I was little, I used to admire different kinds of cute hairstyles. I would always tell my parents about it and then I would go into the situation where I already am persuading them so that I can try the new hairstyle. Especially if most of your friends are changing their looks, the more it would convince you to change yours also. That's why some people make this as their hobby or as their interest in some ways.

While I was browsing articles about this certain topic, I was able to see an article entitled " Cute Hairstyles for long Hair." It was written by Saleho2. She discussed about cute hairstyles being one of the best ornaments from the person. Which is a perfect blessing regards to many worlds. The approval with regards to a person is actually with this sense that it would raise the social being circled and also make as well as developing your personality.

Well I can say that I actually agree on her point of view about cute hairstyles because for every each person , hair is one of the most important things that people look at. Having cute hairstyles can definitely give added attraction to other people. It can help change the physical appearance of a person, and because of that, it makes them pretty or handsome in some ways. You can be more confident whenever there are people giving you compliments about your great hair. It would possibly boost up your personality into a better one now. That's why she says that it's one of the best ornament for a single person to have.

"Hairstyles will be the means of upping your Looks and also Characteristics."

With this effective quote, many people would definitely agree on this. Even I would agree on this because it's absolutely true that the looks and the characteristics are the one's adding the attraction to the cuteness of your hairstyle. With the looks and characteristics of it, you can tell what type of personality does the person have, but there are times that you've mistaken your guess in knowing the personality of the person. But then your physical appearance is also very important because your personality should go with how you look.

We now know why many people try to be cute at some point. They want attention on them. In short, a lot of them wants to be admired because they want to be appreciated. But of course, there are some people who were really born naturally cute. They don't have to make any efforts at all or learn anything just to be really cute. It would just come out of them by the help of their personality, characteristics, and physical appearances.

Introduction: Cuteness

When you say Cute, what's the first thing that comes into your mind? How would you describe Cute? Well for me, Cute is something that people appreciates with many things. Something that they would like to see all the time and not get fed up with.  Like for Stuffed Toys, many people make unique designs for the stuffed toys and because of that, it attracts many adults especially little kids. Even I would appreciate cute things because cuteness is my thing. It gives you happiness from time time by just staring or looking at them.

Cuteness may come in many forms. From the eyes of a child to their soft and furry little friends commonly known as stuffed toys. Cuteness is a type of attractiveness that focuses mainly on the adoration of a certain thing, animal, or person. Usually associated with youth. There are certain appearances that would classify something cute. The usual variables that affect cuteness is body shape, facial feature, height, hairstyle, and at times, the hands and feet.

 Cuteness is also used as a tool. An example of that may be given by looking at a baby. The little one evokes an adoration which stimulates a nurturing character in you. The same goes for other animals that could make girls squeal. They use their cuteness to stimulate humans to take care of them in order to survive. This type of adaptation is a clever work of art. Through, this, the ingenuity of our Creator is once again revealed.

One interesting point is that if these aspects of cuteness apply to adults. An adult with big eyes, small stature and dimples are possibly considered cute.

Well for my opinion, Those things are really the main reasons why it makes something cute. That's why I can really say that being cute is a way of giving attraction towards other people. It can also show a way of being an Innocent person.
